A city man faces felony charges after allegedly strangling a woman and threatening her and a baby.
Aaron Paul Eger, 40, was arraigned Saturday before Magisterial District Judge Fred B. Miller on felony charges of strangulation and endangering the welfare of children, along with two misdemeanor charges of simple assault and recklessly endangering another person and a summary charge of harassment. Unable to post $25,000 bail, he was remanded to the Blair County Prison. His preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 6 before Miller.
According to court documents, police responded to a home on the 2900 block of Fifth Avenue on Saturday for a report of a domestic incident that occurred the day before. The victim told police that Eger grabbed her hair and swung her around during an argument at her home. He also took the car seat that held the couple’s 1-month-old son, and spun it around on the bed. When the victim pushed Eger away, he walked down the hallway, then returned and punched the victim. He then left the room again, only to return and choke her, she reported. During this time, he was yelling at her, the victim said.
The victim said he released her, walked into the living room and grabbed a hunting knife before returning to the bedroom where he threatened to stab her. The victim was able to escape to a safe place, police reported.
Police said the victim had a bruised face and red marks on her neck.
