At the farmers market

Aug 14, 2023Aug 14, 2023

The Oxford Farmers Market has a bounty of Summer veggies. Since everything we sell is homemade or homegrown, you know exactly where your items are coming from. Market hours are every Saturday from 7 a.m. until noon.

Last week’s corn, butterbeans and purple hull peas went fast, but thankfully we will have more this week. Now is the time to stock your freezer for the upcoming holidays and winter months.

Our fruit and veggie menu includes blueberries, silver queen corn, butterbeans, purple hull peas, stringbeans, okra, potatoes, tomatoes, squash, zucchini, onions, cucumbers and a variety of peppers. Just imagine sitting down to a steaming bowl of stringbeans and potatoes, a simmering dish of fresh corn, flanked by a cool plate of tomatoes and cucumbers.

Um…um… what a feast! Along with this delectable, healthy fruit and veggie menu, you’ll also find beef and chicken products, free range eggs, a variety of jams, jellies, pecans, pickles and honey.

Our craft department has an assortment of items for college bound students or to enhance your décor. You’ll find bowl warmers, placemats, table runners, baby bibs, lap quilts, jewelry and much more.

Miss Judy’s fresh bouquets are a welcome delight for any occasion. You will also find a variety of plants and shrubbery. Be sure to visit and like our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/OxfordMarket.

With so many summer treasures on hand, be sure to get up early, grab your water bottle, and meet your friends at the Oxford Farmers Market.

We’re located at the shed directly across from the police station on the corner of McClanahan and Lanier Streets. For those coming in from Interstate 85, take exit 206 into Oxford. As you come into town, look for the signs at the CVS store on Williamsboro Street (Highway 158) or on McClanahan Street. If you are a farmer and would like to join us, please contact Janis Daniel at 919-603-4493. We look forward to seeing you this week.
